Mr. Slate has transcended traditional rock with groove laden bass lines, electric industrial guitars, and rock inspired drum beats, that progress the music with interpersonal lyrics involving people, places and situations that inspire to bring Mr. Slate it's full spectrum sound. The band has come about in a time over saturated with copy-cat bands and has made a place all their own, that some might compare to a breath of fresh air in a time where music has gone full circle far too many times. Singer/bassist Dan Posselt, guitarist Grady Magee and drummer Mike "Cookie" Karraker combine their uniquely styled tension and talent into an explosive mixture that defines Mr. Slate.

Formed in northern Wisconsin in the fall of 2000, when vocalist/bassist Dan Posselt decided to form a rock band with varying sounds and a different approach to the mainstream way of thinking. This brainchild further progressed to add the guitar sounds of Grady Magee who had been a local ambitious artist fresh to the scene. In their search to fill the vacant drummer spot, Dan and Grady found Mike "Cookie" Karakker through mutual friends and his former work in other local bands. This solidified the members that make Mr. Slate who they are today.

With the release of their first demo recorded in 2001 in the attic of Dan's house, they were able to secure shows throughout Wisconsin and other outlying areas. They were also given a slot at the 2001 Illiana Regional NACA Convention, where the band was showcased along with other prospective up and coming individuals in the entertainment business. They've been featured on television and radio along with playing at local festivals and other established area venues. In that time the band has gained an extensive local following and gained the respect of several of their peers.

In the summer of 2002, Mr. Slate decided it was time to head back to the studio. They chose Simple Studios in Green Bay, WI to comprise their sophomore recording, "American Star." The band decided to mix up some of their old material ("Thinking About You", and "Paper Doll") with their new tracks ("Snake Eyes", "American Star", and "KB"), to give listeners a broadened sense of sound that the band wanted to convey with this album. In the making of "American Star", Mr. Slate wanted to utilize the talents of their friends and fans to make the album complete. They invited guests such as Jerrod Rogers of the band Disinformation Machine to join in on vocals for the song "KB", some long time friends of the band to do backup on "American Star", and local artist Scotty Menzel of Artasm Studios to prepare the artwork for the CD.

Mr. Slate invites you into their minds and into their music.
