ALTER was formed February 2002 by members Daniel Thompson (Rhythm Guitar) and Johnathan Rodriguez (Drums) both Sumter S.C. Natives. Daniel was a former member of (Jinx) and Johnathan a former member of (Tin Roof, Sunday Driver, Anne Park and Farpoint). Next to join the band was Barnwell S.C. native Nick Hazuda (bassist). Nick had played with Daniel in Jinx and also with Johnathan in Anne Park. With the band's rhythm section in place it was time for a singer. Sumter S.C. native Jeff Ardis (Formerly of Jinx) was brought in by the band for the position. The band went on to learn about 15 songs together and then decided to bring in Columbia S.C. native Joe Geddings (Lead Guitarist) formerly of Mad About You. With the band all in place they learned about 25 songs and were ready to play out by May of 2002. The band played in all the major local clubs including Gooccis, Par-Tee, and Legacies. In mid December of 2002 ALTER played their last gig with lead singer Jeff Ardis at Legacies of Sumter. Without a singer ALTER realized they needed to setup auditions as soon as possible. After auditioning a few different people ALTER tried out Sumter S.C. native Hal Blackmon formerly of Christian Rock Band Malichi. Hal joined ALTER in early January and is still currently playing with the band. ALTER has a 40 song show including Original material and cover songs. ALTER is an all rock band that can go from slow and mellow to intense and fast. Members Hal, Nick, Joe, Johnathan, and Daniel are influenced by bands like Alice in Chains, Journey, Widespread Panic, Van Halen, and Dashboard confessional.
