A professional musician since 1977, Tim started playing bass and performing back-up vocals in a FM top40 band managed by Kingsland Talent Agency out of Monroe LA. After a year or so of touring the ArkLaTex. he then went on to join several Country/Western bands, notably Al Ferrier And The Showtimers (A Louisiana recording artist popular in Europe) culminating in an independently produced album recorded on Shreveport. Switching from Bass to Guitar, Tim formed his own band performing Lead Vocals and playing Hard Rock as a "Houseband" in Natchitoches, LA. Moving to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in 1980, Tim joined a 50's Show Band backing up touring artists such as Jewel Akins and The Coasters, and Johnny Harra ("the" Elvis impersonator seen on Johnny Carson, Etc). Performed lead guitar duties in several FM Rock Bands in Dallas, Tim began writing originals and formed Tyrant, a Heavy Metal Band. Moving to Los Angeles in 1988, Tim formed an all original Metal band, Criminal, writing all of the bands material. Headlining the Troubadour, FM Station (Hollywood), Criminal built a large fan base which garnered the attention of Louisiana recording artists, The New Orleans Nightcrawlers. Having just acquired a recording deal from BMG, Tim was brought in along with Nicky Hopkins (Rolling Stones, Beatles) to complete tracks for the bands upcoming CD release. Things went "south" for the band and their record label, and the band asked to be released from their contract. The editor for Music Connection Magazine witnessed the bands performance at the Palamino and personally managed the band for several months, attracting sponsorship from Mesa Boogie. Disillusioned with the "record business" in Los Angeles, Tim moved to Austin, Texas in 1994. Forming the Tim Murphy Band, Tim performed around Austin (Sixth Street) for several years, culminating in the bands release of a 16 song CD of originals written by Tim. Currently shopping the CD to independent labels in Texas and Louisiana, Tim has supplied songs for Louisiana Tourist videos and recently signed a contract with GamePlay Music. Gameplay is based in Austin, and supplies soundtracks for video games for the likes of LucasArts, Electronic Arts, ETC. RECENTLY - 2005 Tim can be seen locally at the Pioneer Pub in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and Mama's Oyster Bar six times out of the month, as well as performing gigs all through Louisiana. Currently lead guitarist with the Hardrick Rivers Revue, a R&B band popular in the ArkLATex region. Tim has been with Hardrick's band for five years, and produced River's first solo Cd. They are currently working on the Revue's second Cd, a straight ahead original blues album with strong guitar and sax instrumentals. Tim is also working to put the finishing touches on his second Cd as well. Check out the artist's website: http://www.timmurphyband.com Track List: 1. Heart & Soul 2. Cheap Thrill 3. Down 4.
