IF AC/DC IS YOUR BAG AND STRAIGHT UP HELL RAISIN THUNDER CRASHIN ROCK WITH A METAL TWIST.. THIS ONE IS CHOCK FULL OF
GREAT GUITAR AND FINE SONGS THAT ACTUALLY "SAY SOMETHING"
not your average "Dungeons and Dragons METAL this is flAVORED by spices i grew up on. and a strong air of protest
and discontent in some of the songs(balanced out by the bon scottish storyline on the great escape of a woman who sets her sights on the man and only after he's in the act she tells him that her husband is in the house.....great lyrical implications with a sexual bend like the great steven tyler of aerosmith one of matt's bigger influences im sure, as is Joe perry whose influence is featured often in familiar riffs. for those who started in the pre mettalica era. We love it and evene the most non rockers around here keep playing this one which is rare. give it a spin and see what you think .
Matt McCourt known mostly for his outrageous showmanship with wild dogs and dr Mastermind has recorded an album full of social commentary, the theme that runs throughout is pining for the grand old careferee days of the partying 70’s an era matt knows a lot about having spent most of the decade as a teen. And the music of that period is evident as he shows his roots in a mix of ac/dc,Lynrd Skynrd, aerosmith ,kiss and ted nugent with amazing guitarwork also reminiscent of that period
With a life like he has led the many ups and downs have made great food for thoughjt when it comes to the mature themes on this record it’s a cd full of stories something that must have come with age and a maturing sense of songwriting.
Quoting a line from one of the songs” all my friends and family are all dead and gone”
Leads us to believe that this may be a state of the art futuristioc blues album(unrecognised by the blues community of course-matt has a hard time fitting into any ONE category the 20 plus titles here at cd baby attest to his prolificity
“the title southern fried steel came after a long time of finding a name somebody said it sounds like southern fried metal so steel will do just fine.
Well here is another set of songs that seems to be accepted by most of the people who do not like my metal bands.. ive always been a blues man, and my first influences were allman bros(live at fillmore) I even lied to my schoolmates and said I was their cousin.
Dumb huh?…when I go to man in black to record I always come prepared with 3-5 songs and usually at the end oif the sessions there were some that didn’t make it on a cd
After a while I had an albums worth of songs that had this common blues base sound and I decided to re work a few of em write some new ones and get er done!..
This album isnt heavy metal,,,, unless you consider angus young metal( they are pure rock to me)and the slow song.. a first for me.. I wrote 5 PAGES of verses for that its about the things I miss about our society when it was looking like it was gonna be a free
Time for all things taboo the tide turned crimson and spoiled it.
I play all the guitar on this cd with somne help form Bill Abercrombie now if his name is famillar its because you’ve seen it on yngwie malmsteen records he wrtote a lot of songs with yngwie and willl be our live bassist.
Bryce van patten is on drums again and the production is the slickest of all of matts recordings
and shows what an extremely prolific writer he is
in more than one style within a gendre.
