"Rock and Roll is not dead, it's only in hiding at the present," was the vision that two successful musicians from Argentina had when they left their home Country and came to Los Angeles to pursue their concept in the entertainment capital of the world. While their initial band didn't last, the two began song writing and honing their craft to lay the foundations for what would become 286 a few years later. Drummers and jamming partners came and went, but the initial concept drove the Verry brother's patience for what they were trying to accomplish. After getting rid of the most recent drummer they were playing with, New Jersey native and Berklee College of Music graduate, Pete Pace, auditioned and everything clicked from the start. The band recorded a five song demo to give to auditioning vocalists and the next phase of the project began. With months of getting tight and not finding quite what they were looking for in a singer, Adam Joad, fresh off the road from a recent move to LA, answered the call and the 286 project took shape. The classic stripped down driven rock and roll sound of the Verry Brothers and Pace was now joined by the punk hardcore rooted vocalist that was touring in a DIY political punk project called Despite Best Intentions up until September of 2004. The fusion of the differing background fuels the live in your face dynamic that is 286. With catchy choruses, up tempo rhythms, and aggressive vocals, the 286 project delivers a punch that fans of many different music styles can appreciate. For 286, what they are is what you see. There's no hidden agenda, prefabricated images, or studio magic. 286 is a powerhouse of live energy that will be coming to a town near you to spread the vision that was conceived many years before. Welcome to the world of 286! -With the declaration, "Rock and Roll is not Dead," 286 has hit the LA club scene with straight rock energy reminiscent of the late 70's and combined their upbeat vibrations with an in your face vocal style that runs the gamut of singing, screaming, and ranting, in a combination that fits right on track with their music transitions that sometimes take you by surprise. 286 is a new spin on a classic tried and true concept. -The Welkin ...A cast of two brothers from Argentina, a drummer from Jersey, and a vocalist from Pittsburgh, 286 has secured a place in the new resurgence of good old fashioned in-your-face rock music with choruses you can't seem to get out of your head. -Rock and Roll Report ...The band "286" was a vivid reminder that roots rock with innovative new packaging was a recipe for success... Rock and Roll is indeed not dead as the band proudly proclaimed, and after their Hollywood debut, I believe them. -KNAC -As 286 blew through a set that was void of filler, obligatory love ballads, or emotional angst, the band was having fun on stage and the vibes clearly spill over into the audience. A closer look into the project reveals a more serious nature and thoughtful lyrics that people who aren't looking will probably regretfully miss in the wake of the naked energy of the band. -Rock and Roll Report -286 interacts on and off the stage as one mobile clusterfuck of what they are, a solid rock and roll band that's bringing back some of those elements we've been missing in music...the long haired brothers weaved through up tempo straight rock music ala Bonn Scott era AC/DC that comes across live much more thrashing like a modern day MC-5 right in the City Of Angels. In a new dawn where guitar leads aren't sending the industry and listeners into hiding, 286 has got them and we were dam surprised how many kids haven't seen them before! - World Of Gigs Live Review You guys are amazing. I mean this in a good way, reminded me of if Faster Pussy Cat got all drunk and banged the Sex Pistols then they had a kid and fed it steroids...it's every cool thing I liked in music minus all the bullshit.
