Waila is the social dance music of the central and southern tribes of Arizona including the Tohono O'odham in Arizona and Mexico. In Arizona and Mexico, waila, or chicken scratch, music, has arisen as a fusion of native Tohono O'odham music with German Polka, European Mazurka, African Cumbia, and Mexican-American Conjunto and Nortena.
