Mighty Quick A five-piece variety band based in Denver and Pueblo, Colorado. The band was formed by LeRoy Tafoya in Pueblo, Colorado in 1977 and continued through 1989. LeRoy then moved to Taos, New Mexico and continued the band there with local Taos musicians. Then LeRoy moved back to Pueblo in 1997 and continued with Mighty Quick. The Musicians that make up the Mighty Quick band are LeRoy Tafoya (guitar, keyboards and vocals), Joe Tafoya (bass guitar), Fred Tafoya (drums), Max Tafoya (guitar, keyboards and vocals) and Chris Castro (vocals and percussion). Original members included Leroy Tafoya, Dan Abeyta, Chris Castro, Fred Tafoya, Dennis Moore, Paul Maldonado and Clark Romero. The band has performed in Colorado and New Mexico and has a combined musical experience of over 70 years. The music the band performs consists of rancheras, cumbias, boleros, oldies, rock & roll, top forty and country. LeRoy Tafoya and former band member Pete Martinez have written songs that have been recorded on six releases. Mighty Quick's recordings are; Migthy Quick (My Songs), Mighty Quick VI, The Real Deal, Porque Te Fuistes, Avanzando Mas, Te Hice Mal Perdoname and Mighty Quick. The band has also recorded with the late Larry Salazar (vocalist and disc jockey) of KSUV radio station, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Music by Mighty Quick can also be found on the following CD's; CD Musicman's Musica De Mi Pueblo; Radio Station 89.3 fm, KUVO's Cancion Mexicana, Tirando Chancla: The Music of Colorado, Volumes 3 & 4; and Alta Vista's New Mexico's Artists. Mighty is currently working on their eighth release. Mighty Quick were 1st place winners of the 1993 & 1995 San Luis, Colorado Fiestas "Battle of the Bands" and the 1993 Colorado State Fair Fiesta Day "Best Musical Performance by a Mexican Band". Mighty Quick also received nominations in the New Mexico Hispano Music Awards in 1993 for male vocalist, LeRoy Tafoya and in 1994 for vocal duo, LeRoy Tafoya and Pete Martinez. The band also appeared on the program Cinco en Punto, channel 41, Albuquerque, New Mexico on the Univision network in July and September of 1993. The band has opened for artists such as Tierra, Al Hurricane, Sparx, Little Joe y La Familia, Jay Perez, Oscar G, Stefani, Ruben Ramos and the Texas Revolution, and La Diferenzia.
