This group and their style of music came to be in the small town of Old Mesilla, NM near the Mexican/US border. Their unique instrumentation, sound, and repertoire evolved from playing for tourists in restaurants around the historic plaza. All three members met in college and had recently played in a traditional style mariachi. These strolling musicians all sing and play the guitarron, vihuela, and guitar of the Mexican mariachi. However, each one grew up listening to the music and harmonies of the Beatles and other music from that time and genre. The music on this album successfully incorporates the traditional music of Mexico with a young and fresh perspective to make a sound that pays respect to tradition but also builds on that tradition to make something new. Note to parents!: Quite by chance, this album has become a favorite of any child who listens to it. One child’s mother returned to buy a total of 3 CDs because the child wore out the first two copies listening to it over and over. Another child’s mother said she was happy to finally find an album that her children loved that didn't drive her crazy.
