Hélio Seródio T’Rio "Berlin Jazz Award 2005" Finalist Hélio Seródio is a Rio-born composer, virtuose guitarist and singer. On his new (2°)CD, he mixes Samba, Bossa, Jazz, Funk, Rap and Baiao to an explosive style which he calls "Brazilian Universal Music" (BUM). After playing in Brazil and Europe, this CD marks his debut in the US. Biography Serodio's band brings together the best of Brazilian music in New York. All seven musicians master the most diverse styles from Samba to Jazz and Funk, creating Serodio's distinct style. Hélio was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but his inspiration comes from a diverse mix of different sources. His ancestors include european immigrants from Madeira, a portuguese island in the Atlantic ocean, and from Switzerland as well as descendants of Africans. As a composer, Hélio works with all these influences, and a lot more, to create his own style, what he calls B.U.M, Brazilian Universal Music.
