Acclaimed Australia wide, and now acknowledged in Brazil, Mad-Couch bring you their debut album of classic, and original Brazilian inspired songs - sambas, bossas and Oz-forro thrown in for good measure, the brilliant vibes of Kym Ambrose, and the gorgeous vocalese & Portuguese vocals of Anje West.

The album is a gentle reflection of where they have been - the ground they've covered over the last 6 years. All but one of the original tracks on Tranquilo were born during their time studying in Brazil, (April - July 2004). Their teacher was the legendary producer/arranger & composer Alberto Farah. You can hear his work here: http://www.promusico.com

Apart from their great regular rhythm section of Owen Newcomb (bass), and Mark Henman (drums), the album also features special guests Jamie Clark (guitar), Joe Marchisella (drums) & Helen Russell (double bass), as well as a soaring sting quartet.

This is a beautiful c.d. recorded by musicians who are deeply passionate about where this music comes from.

"What I have to say about Kym is very simple, he is a fantastic composer, an outstanding musician, able to perform on the vibraphone in the highest artistic and technical levels. I'm very impressed with his musical approach to our Brazilian music, our grooves and harmonic concepts. Congratulations" . Alberto Farah

"Kym is working in a particularly interesting way because there are very few vibraphonists playing in this style - as well as having a deep understanding of the rhythmic subtleties of samba and bossa nova, he is also a fluid and exciting jazz improviser" Jamie Clark, Lecturer, Qld Conservatorium of Music

“Anje doesn’t only pick up a foreign song making it her own, she draws from aspects of Brazilian culture and really engages with them...........the sensuality and vibrancy of her style mixes well with the rhythm of Samba, transporting you to the heart of Rio de Janeiro. Her singing channels the soul of the music into a very pleasant experience.
