Here is the music of Afzelia Project, wherein the lush acoustics rests a lyric of subtle impact, a note warmly euphoric, and a delicate projection of songs of substance.

At the project's nucleus is Kofi Boafo, born in Ghana yet raised across nations from Pakistan to Switzerland to Ethiopia, and who spent adult years in cultures as diverse as the Brazilian, and as distinctive as the Welsh.

A self-taught musician, as well as a refreshing lyricist and composer, Kofi weaves his charm as an instrumentalist and vocalist into the fabric of the music creating a fine balance of chord and melody; depth and simplicity; reminiscent of his deepest musical influences including Donny Hathaway, Tom Jobim, Maxwell, Richard Bona, Jon Lucien and Djavan.

This appeal has attracted some of Cardiff's (Wales, UK) most talented producers and musicians to contribute to the recording and performance of his songs. These are the ones who 'keep the music supple', and whom are affectionately referred to as 'The Collective', a growing number of musical associates.

The aptly titled debut, 'Portraits', introduces the textures and styles that best paint the gospel spirituality that lays at the heart of the song; the soft bossa, the smooth jazz, and the sultry harmony; or in other words, the grain of Afzelia Project.
