In 1943, in a small ranch called "El Tular" south of the state of Veracruz, Cosamaloapan county, Mexico; the musician and poet JOSE FRANCISCO DELGADO AVENDANO was born on October the 10th at 8am where he began, step by step, his life of composing improvised verses with the best trovadours in the region as well as his own corridos, huapangos and boleros which wait to hear performances of by the author very soon. His father, Mr. Placido Delgado Guzman, when once hearing his son's lyrics asked him, "Are you composing me a song now that I am getting older?" and that was the title of the song he composed for his father: "I am getting older". Mr. Placido Guzman and Miss Socima A. Lara de Delgado (his mother) were very well known and much loved by their neighbors in the region. In much the same way Jose Francisco is loved today by the people of the same region. He was 17 when he start making his own instruments: "Requinto Jarocho" and "Jarana"; He continued making instruments and built his first harp at the age of 24. Jose Francisco later joined a mariachi band for three years, then a jarocho band called "Flor de Cana" (Sugar Cane Flower). In 1964 he founded his own band, which he named AGUILA JAROCHA (jarocha eagle) which still has the same name. The first musicians of the band were Jose Francisco playing the harp as his main instrument, Pedro Reyes on the jarana, Abel Roman on the guitar and Martin Covaccin playing the requinto jarocho. One year later in 1965, Abel Roman quit the band and began playing with Roberto Delgado, Jose Francisco's brother. In replacement of Abel, Martin Covaccin joined Aguila Jarocha, and Pedro Reyes later joined as well. Continuing with the group, Jose Francisco decided to go on with his sons: Placido Delgado (the oldest), Alvis, Joel, Julio and Jose Francisco Jr. (the youngest of his 5 sons). In 2001 he moved to the United States with his sons, Alvis and Joel, where they were joined by a forth musician, Juan Carlos Gene playing the maracas and the Venezuelan cuatro. Jose Francisco is an avid fan of Venezuelan and Paraguayan music and is constantly improving himself in the art of performing the folkloric harp as only he knows how and that's why he has earned the love of his public. That's how he is where he is today. Working hard, performing with his heart for a public that love and admire him more and more in the many locations where the Hispanic music is played such as: The Municipal Auditorium of Kansas City, The Rainbow Center, Cristal club, Milenium club, and for many restaurants, parties and social events in Kansas and Missouri.
