Aunt Rita (Rita Ross)

Rita Ross was born in Detroit, Michigan, the third of six children born to Fred and Ernestine Lillian Ross. She is also the sister of Diana Ross. Rita attended Spellman College in Atlanta, Georgia where she majored in Education. She is the mother of two children and foster mother of many Rita is also a member of the Michigan State Supreme Court Foster Care Review Board, For many years, she worked for Motown Records as a part of the Motown family. Currently, she works tirelessly for causes benefitting children. One cause, which is dear to her heart, are children living in families with AIDS. For this reason, she founded the Lillian B Ross foundation for Children. The Ross Foundation is committed to fulfilling the unmet needs of infants and children who have aids and are deserving of a normal life, free of discrimination and alienation. A portion of the proceeds from this album will go to the "Lillian B Ross Center for Children," located in Detroit, Michigan, and "Our House" located in Hemet, California. " Our House" is a residential home that addresses the needs of mothers with addictions.

This album was created from songs Rita sang as a child with her family. Many of these songs are still heard and sung today, such as "The Name Game", "Ole Mary Mack", "Father Abraham," "dry Bones" and many more. Music has the power to unite families and united families make children feel safe and loved. Rita's hope is that you will sing these songs with children. Rita would especially like to thank the children of "Our House" for sharing the following words on music.
