MORE ABOUT LEAH: Leah Lewis, professional opera singer turned full-time mom and founder of Leah's Music Class resides in central Texas with her husband and five year old son. Leah entered the inspirational world of music and movement for the very young while studying music performance in college, where she was first introduced to the holistic music approach known as Orff Schulwerk (a way to learn music by singing, dancing, playing special instruments and improvising). Although she was eventually physically removed from music education, (by her operatic career and later through travels with her husband as he served in the US Navy) her heart remained filled with dreams of sharing her love of music and its many benefits with children. After the birth of their son, Leah turned to what she knew - the power of song, chant and rhythmic movement - to ease his colic induced discomfort. And as other challenging developmental stages emerged, Leah realized that her very active youngster responded more positively to playful redirection when music was involved. Donning her researcher hat, Leah harvested the best of parenting and music and movement practices, further developing her own music-and-movement-for-children philosophy. Combining great musical sense, parenting practices, occupational and music thereapy techniques and more, Leah writes and records children's msuic that helps parents enlighten and instruct their little ones in a loving and fun way. Made up of songs and chants that are the favorites of parents and children enrolled in her fantastically fun weekly music and movement classes, this CD will soon become your children's all-time favorite too!
