Born to Nigerian and American parents, Anita Adeeko Cook is the happy and energetic mother of two highly gifted and doubly-cultured children, Aidan and Noah.

A life-long writer, songwriter, and singer, Anita channeled her vocal and literary talent to teaching her sons to appreciate the value of reading and music in their toddler years. Anita's work with her children was so successful that she decided to document the original curriculum, stories, and songs she used to teach her sons and share it with parents around the world through The Gifted Toddler Company (http://thegiftedtoddler.com).

I'm Gonna Raise My Baby is the musical story of a young mother who sings to her little boy about her promise to raise him with plenty of love and guitar music. The richly textured pictures in the childrens' book (purchased separately) show that the young mother was once the daughter of two African-American slaves who did not have the opportunity to give her the gifts of quality time or tender songs. In contrast to a childhood marked by her own parents' limited availability, this young mother promises her new son her constant attention. In a wonderful blend of standard and Pidgin English, the mother describes to her baby all of the ways that she and her guitar will support him through life. In the last chorus of the song, Anita borrows her father's native Yoruba tongue to express the mother's affection for her child.
