> > The Steve Hudson Quintet or SHQ was created to be a vehicle for freely experimenting with different musical ideas. Their sound is derived from a variety of sources: jazz, tango, classical, afrocuban, and Indian music. The group is based in Flemington, New Jersey, and frequently performs at various jazz clubs and theaters in New York City.

SHQ has recorded their second album to be released in May of 2006, and will be touring western Europe and Canada later this year.

If jazz is "the sound of surprise," then this is it! The music has an
overall vibe to it that perhaps has something to with Indian music, in that there is a certain timelessness about it. The images that come to mind are "flying over water on a dark moonlit night"-wide open spaces where nothing is rushed, peace and calm coexist with interjections, and yet many times a killer groove kicks in.
