This CD is the first of a series in Brazilian Contemporary Piano Music. This first one was produced in honour to Martin Braunwieser, an Austrian composer (also conductor, flutist, and violist) who was born in Salzbrug in 1901. So, the disk honoured his centenary. He moved to Brazil in the 20´s, and adopted the county as his own homeland. He influenced and was influenced by many important Brazilian musicians, such as Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Camargo Guarnieri. In 1938 he was the musician in charge of the most important cientific folk mission Brazil has ever had to the North and Northeast of the country. Many of the registers he made then and samples for all Brazilian musicologists. This CD begins with two cycles of his ouvres: 9 Easy Pieces for Four Hand Piano, and 8 Children Pieces on Turkish Melodies. The first cycle is Braunwieser writing already influenced by Brazilian themes. And the second group of pieces "on Turkish Melodies" is a cycle he wrote when he was in Greece, soon before he moved to Brazil, after marrying the Russian pianist Tatiana Kipman.
The second part of the disk shows compositions by Braunwieser´s grand-nephew, the also composer and conductor (and pianist) Sergio Igor Chnee. Chnee plays together with Paulo Gazzaneo the 9 Easy Pieces for Four Hand Piano. All the other compositions are played by Gazzaneo.
