Paul Corbiere and James Mader have played together for many years - Paul on xylophone, James on drums. Throughout this experience, they have discovered a mutual/musical understanding that has allowed them to create music - by honing their skill of listening to each other, as in conversation. They have developed the pieces in this recording to demonstrate this complementary style, a quality from the music from Africa and the Caribbean. As music educators, Paul and James recognize the need for new music for their students. Both are teachers of the World Music Drumming Curriculum developed by Will Schmid. Paul and James felt the need to expand their respective groups' repertoire. The selections contained here are from their book, Music of the Village. This recording consists of the 13 drum and xylophone ensembles played upon traditional and authentic instruments. Track List: 1. Teakwe 2. Jammin' Kpanlogo 3. Grey Babylon 4. Sanibel 5.
