Formed in 1996,To B is this Portland-based ensemble's third CD,but the first to accurately showcase the band's high energy live-set and expanded 7-piece line up. In September of 2000 the band was given quite a boost by the addition of Nojeem Lasisi's talking drum.He moved to the Portland area in 2000 following a ten year stint recording and touring with Nigerian Superstar KING SUNNY ADE and his playing is featured on To B. Over the last seven years Flatland has played all over Oregon and Washington and opened for some of the biggest names in jazz(Herbie Hancock and the Head-Hunters re-union,Charlie Hunter trio,Wayne Horwitz's Zony Mash,Galactic, the Mel Brown Sextet and more). "Heady and talented enough for hardcore jazz fans and grooving enough for rock fans" -the Oregonian "Flatland meticulously molds musical souundscapes that can alternately seduce you to sleep, get you stoned and make you feel all slinky and sexy.Brilliance without words."
