Bert No Ernie is one-man bass and vocals band somewhere between punk and jazz. Bert No Ernie is Jim Osmer. These songs are compositions not improvised solos and are heavily influenced by Nomeansno, Victim's Family and the Minutemen. Also like such unlikely influences as Tool, Marcus Miller, Johnny Cash and Husker Du.

BARE BONES is the fourth Bert No Ernie CD and his most polished. There are no bass overdubs/layering so these sound just like this CD at live shows. Most of these songs have been played at small clubs and coffeeshops around the Seattle area.

There are some odd experiments here from the three-finger picking pattern on the Slint-esque "Crisis Engine" to the slide bass on "Been Sitting Too Long."

Enjoy.
