Alec Haavik (Tenor and Soprano Saxophone) presents a set of original compositions which meld the gritty sounds of rock-and-roll with improvisational jazz. The band includes some of the most fiercely original voices on the scene in New York City. Check out the opening track, "Make It Happen," which moves from 80's pop to polytonal reggae to Miles Davis 70's fusion to Devo-style New Wave. The next track, "Ebay," was inspired by both Jimi Hendrix's "The Wind Cries Mary" and the atonal music of 20th Century composer, Anton Von Webern. Rounding out the experience is a pair of cover tunes: "Life of Leisure" (Luscious Jackson) and a medley of "Walking on the Moon" (The Police) and "Giant Steps" (John Coltrane). There's still more musical surprises, brought to life by these astounding players.
