"It is a joy to host the House of Blues Radio Hour because I get to discover new bands to play on the air and to engage for the stages at our clubs. The Big Pill is my new favorite emerging group. I haven¹t heard a sound this funky, fat and varied for many years. Their material and their patented mixed method of delivery is truly impressive. All of us at House of Blues look forward to an ongoing professional relationship with The Big Pill and we have no doubt that their success will be huge."

- Dan Aykroyd aka Elwood Blues

The Big Pill, an eight piece band with a unique, eclectic sound that mixes various types of music to create something all its own, plays agressive lounge or Big Band Neo Funk. One of the best live party bands in Southern California, The Big Pill hails from Pasadena (home of the Rose Bowl). Their unified rhythm hybrid of musical styles begins with an experienced out front drummer "All day" Joey K. singing lead vocals; guitarist "Slick" Nick Lewis; bassist/vocalist Corey "C-money" McCormick; Turntablist/vocalist "the motivational speaker" DJ True 129; percussionist/vocalist Gabe " Chankla Funk" Velasquez. The three piece horn section or "Tall Section"; saxophonist "Killa" Jake Wilson, trombonist Chase "The Captain" Bland, and barritone saxophonist Derek "D-Sharp" Ludwig. The Big Pill is able to take eight different flavors and roll them all into one fat sound. LA Times Weekend Calendar Editor, Kevin Bronson refers to them as "genre mashers".

Introduction to Aggressive lounge:

The Big Pill started in 1998 with a chance meeting by guitarist Nick Lewis and drummer Joey K. in a local music store parking lot. After talking over a smoke and a ¡*corporate bucks¡¨ cup of coffee, the two of them realized that they shared the same vision of forming a diverse and dynamic band that would change the way people look at music. That idea was soon to be a reality. Joey made some calls to long time friends, DJ True129, whom had been consistently working with top named acts around Los Angeles and percussionist Rich Herrera. They were up for being part of a team that would turn some heads. Their first task was to round out the foundation with the best possible bottom end. Nick had taken classes with classically trained Bass player Corey McCormick and after the first rehearsal it was clear that the match was perfect. However something was still missing. It was what would be later named ¡*the tall section¡¨. Jake Wilson on Sax, Gino Munoz on Trumpet, and Chase Bland on Trombone were exactly what the doctor had prescribed. Nothing more was needed in this family and the result was enough to excite everyone that got a dose of the big pill. They are addictive and without a hangover. 311 meets Tower of Power, Sublime meets James Brown, Wycleff meets Santana, Steely Dan on crack maybe? ¡*Aggressive Lounge Music¡¨ is born. Band members and listeners alike have found something that is fun and amazing. The Big Pill is able to take eight different visions and package them all into one band. From the Vans Warped Tour to local back yards, The Knitting Factory to McMurphys in Old Town Pasadena people are drawn to them from all over California, driving as far as San Francisco and San Diego to Los Angeles. They have turned heads, made people smile, and dedicated 110% of their time and energy to entertaining people of all ages. And they will grab your attention. Together The Big Pill has a new goal. It is time to find a partner, a company that sees the vision, wants to be a part of something special and loves The Big Pill and their "aggressive lounge¨ music.
