Antoine Silverman, hailed as one of New York City's premier versatile violinists, performs regularly as a jazz violinist, bluegrass fiddler, Broadway soloist and orchestral musician.

Of his album "Blue Moods", The New York Times says, "Mr. Silverman displays a masterful and winning command of his instrument . . . [he] certainly deserves the spotlight it is afforded here."

Joel Roberts of All About Jazz says, "Antoine Silverman's singular gifts as a musician, as well as his choice of the violin as his musical voice, lend his work both a freshness and a familiarity that reaches well beyond a traditional jazz audience."

Miles Jordan of Jazz Times says, "I'm pleased to add this remarkable CD to my collection of jazz violinists and recommend that you do, too."

Dainon Moody of Pop Matters Review says, "If you really strain your ears enough, you'll swear you can hear Ella singing softly. Strain a bit closer still and discover it's really his violin."

The son of a legendary folk guitarist and singer, Antoine Silverman was encouraged to take classical violin lessons at the age of three. By 5, he had discovered bluegrass as well, accompanying his father and playing fiddle contests throughout the eastern United States. By age 14 he began playing jazz, adding to his versatile consummate musicianship. Today, violinist Antoine Silverman performs jazz, country, classical and bluegrass regularly, including touring, recording, and playing and teaching music festivals.

After completing his degree from Columbia University and the Juilliard School, Antoine relocated to Nashville to collaborate with artists such as Shania Twain, Lyle Lovett, the Beach Boys, Vanessa Williams, Sixpence None the Richer and Garth Brooks. In 1996, he fiddled with Lyle Lovett on the David Letterman Show. After releasing his first album, Swing Shift, in 1998, he moved back to New York to begin a busy performing and recording career. In 2001, he recorded a second album on jazz violin entitled Blue Moods. This past summer Antoine frontlined at the prestigious Litchfield Jazz Festival in Connecticut, playing with Ted Rosenthal, Quincy Davis, Jeff Carney and Pat Bergeson. He was also on faculty, teaching jazz violin and theory.

Antoine maintains a full workload playing 8 shows a week and writing music, but makes time to work in the studio and onstage with others, including Sheryl Crow, the Dixie Chicks, Sinead O'Connor, Moby, Steve Tyrell, Ben Folds Five, Linda Eder, Ben Kweller, Anne Hampton Callaway and Lou Reed. Well acquainted with the Broadway show circuit, he has performed solo violin, fiddle, guitar and mandolin for The Green Bird, Civil War, Footloose, Spitfire Grill, A Man of No Importance, Urban Cowboy, and now, Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway.

No stranger to recording for film and television, Antoine recorded soundtracks such as Frida and Changing Lanes, and the series Nero Wolfe on A&E . He has played swing fiddle for numerous national TV commercials including ATT, American Express, Pepsi, Ponderosa and Coca Cola. He also creates the fiddle sounds for Elmo on Sesame Street.

Antoine has written 2 educational books, Step One: Play Violin and Fiddle Tunes, Basic and Beyond, the latter just released by Warner Brothers.
