The instrumental funk band is back! Their sophomore effort comes without disappointment on the coattail of last years CD-matter over mind. The group holds true to the effort to make their urban jazz a common genre in music. They believe that if you combine r&b/funk and smooth jazz together, the result is urban jazz. This group is proving this to be true! The CD 'hard days play' is one of the funkiest yet smoothest efforts out there. (this is the bands only rule-keep it smooth and funky.) The deep bass and funky keyboards have returned!The CD- Hard days play has grooves that just keep coming. From the up tempo, dancey opener "haf'steppin'" to the go-go beatish "workin' it out", it keeps the foot tapping unconsciously. The CD's slow songs are very infectious with a 70's/80's feel. The group decided to incorporate vocals to one of their slow jams-"you're on my mind." They show their improvisational side on track "tj's jazz"-trying to hold true to the subject of true jazz. Funk still reigns supreme on tracks "survibin'" and "shake yo' tailbone." The title cut proves its name with deep bass,ripping horns,and percussion that rolls on and on. the group shows its versatility with boogieish, hand clapping track "slidewalk." Hard days play has it all for those who are curious to hear just what urban jazz is.
