There was a time in Jazz when the rhythm section made the hornplayer shine. It seems to me that this is a forgotten art. In today's jazz scene there are so many good players available for work and recording sessions that it seems no one has taken the time to put togetherthe rhythm sections that provide a solid foundation for today's leaders...
The unforgettable likes of, Wynton Kelly, Philly Joe Jones, Paul Chambers orMcCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, Elvin Jones or Kieth Jarrett, Jack DeJanett,Ron McClure and the force that changed the direction of rhythm sections in modern jazz Tony Williams, Herbie Hancock and Ron Carter.
