“Evergreens, Etc.” was recorded in 1998 by Buddy Scott’s Monad Recording Co. offering me the first chance to record a CD playing Alto Sax as a leader of a group. Accompanying me was Hal Danco, piano; Chuck Zeuren, drums; and Cameron Brown, bass. The CD was never mastered and published for reasons unknown. With the know-how my first in a recording gave me, I proceeded to produce three CDs in the years 2000, 2001, and 2003, featuring my most recent quartet with Hiroshi Yamazaki, piano; Joe Ragusa, drums, and Fred Hunter, bass. The success of these three CDs: “Wee Small Hours…”, “Friends”, and “Remembering”, encouraged me to revisit the studio to have “Evergreens, Etc.” mastered with Buddy Scott’s approval, and it was successful, even with the occasional squeaks and failed attempts to play an occasional fast “Bird” phrase. I’m very happy that I made this recording. Playing with the rhythm section of Hal, Cameron, and Chuck on my first CD was very exciting. I hope you enjoy it. Many, many thanks to Buddy Scott and Monad Records.
