Barbadian born, Elan Trotman (27) began his musical career on the piano at age seven. At age 12, he picked up the alto saxophone in the Queen’s College Secondary School band in his hometown. After studying with Barbadian saxophonist Arturo Tappin. Elan applied to Berklee College of Music, Boston, and was later accepted with a full scholarship from the Barbados Government. In December of 2001, Elan graduated from Berklee with a Bachelors’ Degree in Music Education. His own recordings include two (2) independent projects: Memories (2001) and Let’s have a Good Old Time (2005). To date, Elan has recorded and performed with notable artists like Roberta Flack, Kirk Whalum, Nathan East, Don Grusin, Bronson Arroyo, and Peter Gammons. Elan has performed at various music Festivals, sharing the stage with artists like Tito Puente, Regina Belle, Kirk Franklin, Norman Brown, Joe Sample, Rhianna, Kanye West, Floetry, Click Five and Frankie J. On the local Boston scene, you can find Elan gigging regularly with artists and bands like Flipside, Entrain, Bronson Arroyo, and many others.
