Zanter Trio offers a mix of Mainstream, Funky, and Latin jazz that is intimate, intricate, expressive, harmonically and rhythimically moving. We're just having FUN! Listen to the linked excerpts and see for yourself. The trio has performed throughout the Tri-State (OH, KY, WV)at clubs and regional festivals (MU Winter Jazz Fest, Jazz MU Tazz, Taste of Charleston, Tri-State Multi-Cultural Festival, and Taste of the Mountains Wine and Jazz) for the past three years developing a sound that combines jazz tradition--music like tunes by Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Wayne Shorter etc.--with funky grooves--Scofield, Medeski, Martin, and Wood. Our current repertoire includes an even mix of jazz standards and original material (like the tunes on STRAWBERRY SUNDAY!)If you want more information, just "Google" us to catch some of the buzz. A note on STRAWBERRY SUNDAY: As often happens when I write a jazz tune, Strawberry Sunday came to me "in a flash" on a Saturday in March 2005. When this happens, I always trust my intuition. The next day I asked my wife, Tonia, to name the tune after hearing and she immediately responded with the title! I thought the title wasn't macho enough for three guys playing the form of hyper-masculine music we play; but when I presented the name to the group, they immediately responded that it should be the title track of our CD. I don't know why, but why question it?
