Ah, a CD you can leave in the player and listen to over and over again. Tremendous big band and small band arrangements of some of the greatest standards ever written, as well as a new original Bossa. Very sexy. If you dig Nat King Cole's "After Midnight Sessions," or anything Sinatra did for Capitol in the 50's, you are going to love this record. Top notch New York City musicians, in a beautifully recorded and arranged musical environment. Has a real authentic feel to it, sonically akin to Billie Holiday's Decca Recordings, only now you can hear the rhythm section as well as the vocals and horns. All in all, a masterfully made record which, by the way, was mastered by Gene Paul, son of Les Paul, former staff engineer at Atlantic. Ron Sunshine handles the vocals with ease and style, especially impressive on the slower and medium tempo tunes, which many singers of his generation would not even attempt. Tim Ouimette's horn arrnagements are beautiful beyond words. Pianist Rick Germanson turns in a performance worthy of the great Oscar Peterson. The perfect make-out record. Plus, the cover should be framed and hung on your wall.
