Musical Genius Chris Van Loan - MusicDish I heard a couple of Nhojj's tunes on mp3.com several months ago and was impressed with his artistry and musical arrangements. Yesterday, I received the entire CD, which is entitled "I've been waiting." I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Nhojj is one of the most unique and talented artists that I have ever heard. He may be blessed with musical genius (I know, a pretty bold statement, huh?). Lets backup for a second. Nhojj wields an emotion filled falsetto similar to Maxwell's and vocal arrangements that cover the gamut from funk to Broadway show tunes. In complete honesty I can't say that I love everything that I hear on this CD, but to be a fair judge, I must award extra points for artistry and technical difficulty. I do love the musical ideas I hear. I must also admit, that while holding my 6-month-old daughter, Cara, I was emotionally overwhelmed when I heard the beautiful title tune, "I've been waiting." I realized that I had been waiting for her all my life. This music may be too adventurous for some music industry types but someone in the music business had to have the luck and guts to hear the potential in Elvis Costello's and Prince's early demos. Here's wishing the brightest future for Nhojj and his musical passion. We'll be waiting to hear it. By the second listening I was convinced that these are great songs, enhanced by fine arrangement and production. I'm sure our listeners will be equally impressed.
