There are a lot of jazz artists out there who can play a lot of notes. I'm more interested in creating a mood. The musicians that influenced me the most: Chet Baker, Bill Evans, Miles Davis were masters of creating an emotional moment. I want to create a sense of accessibility to the song, a sense of intimacy with the listener, and to make a song mean something personal. Let face it, listening to someone play a lot of complicated scales is as interesting as reading the dictionary, compared with reading a novel or a poem.

Logan Medland began his music career, like a lot of jazz pianists studying the classics. He went to the same high school where classical piano legend Glenn Gould went, and spent his formative years studying and performing Bach, putting in long hours at the piano in the relentless pursuit of technical perfection. He was well on his way to a classical career, concertising across the U.K. and in Canada when he was infected by a love of jazz.
He gradually dropped classical music completely and refocussed his creativity on jazz. Within a few years he was performing and touring nationally with the country's best players, developing at a phenomenal rate into a passionate and accomplished player, capable of both sophisticated romanticism, and bluesy soul-influenced lyricism.

"FIVE STARS!***** More than just listenable, this album is a joy for the auditory sense and food for the soul.
