NYC-based artist Lisa Karp began writing and singing in college with friends from acting class. After graduating from art school in Boston she was exhibiting as a painter, freelancing as a designer, and had performed as a dancer. Ultimately she committed to music. Credits include:

* Lyrics to swing tune "Catch'Em in the Act" recorded by Dr. John on 'The Max Weinberg 7' CD- animated music video was initiated (2000)
* World trip-hop tune "Me & You Now" in soundtrack to indie
feature film 'Mutant Aliens' premiering Sundance Film Festival(2001)
* MTV licenses 13 tunes for soundtrack material for various network shows (2001)
* "Me & You Now" & rock tune "Slipped" in indie feature film soundtrack and compilation album 'Indian Cowboy' currently showing HBO Hungary
* Radio airplay in Taiwan of trip-hop tune "Fate"
* Chosen to perform at The Songwriter's Hall of Fame Showcase, Fez NYC (2003)

Departing from her vibey eclectic indie-pop to explore classic jazz vocal, blues, and old-school R&B, Fucsia Blues was written, arranged and produced by Lisa Karp. Dr. John co-arranges two and plays on six... "It was a good chance for me to do something unique and musically everything's there. What I like is that she doesn't think like most singer-songwriters think, she often approaches stuff from left field, and that drives my creative flow as well. Lisa's emergence will give audiences a chance to discover something very fresh."

"Coupled up with New Orleans the legendery Dr. John, Lisa Karp sings her way to the top of the vocal jazz-blues scene. Her voice is sultry deep and sexy with a smoky feel. It is backed up by great upright bass and light drums and gorgeous piano. You feel her pain on every note and will shed a tear for such a tormented soul who pours her heart and brain onto these contemporary compositions fit for the bravest and hippest club."
EDITOR'S CHOICE, Smother.net

"Lisa Karp's unique style will have you captivated...for this sophisticated album...Karp is hot and laid back all in one package. Everything's Broken, a duet with Dr. John, is probably the highlight of the album...I can't get enough of this."

"An engaging set...tempered with a healthy dose of irony....sultry jazz with an underworld slant."
Subba Cultcha.com

"Lisa's provocative vocal delivery and introspective lyrics have a way of fusing with your own reminisces and daydreams- making this CD a very personal musical journey. The pairing with Dr. John is a comfortable fit- like sipping a glass of whiskey neat while lounging on the patio as the sun slips below the horizon."
Black Jack Ketchum, WRFG, Atlanta

"Very cool songs- very original."
Rita Housten, Music Director WFUV, NYC
