Karin Plato grew up on the prairies in a small farming community called Alsask in the province of Saskatchewan.

She studied the piano throughout her childhood. She later attended the University Of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon where she received a Bachelor Of Music Degree in piano and voice. She later studied vocal jazz in Vancouver, British Columbia at Capilano College and at The Banff Centre For The Fine Arts in Banff Alberta.

She has performed festivals and concerts in Western Canada since the mid 1990's and has released four albums of Jazz standards and originals.

Her release of "There's Beauty In The Rain" garnered her a Juno nomination for best vocal jazz recording of the year in 2000.

Recent concert highlights include opening up for Brad Mehldau in 2000 at the Sasktel Jazz Festival in Saskatoon and opening up for Peter Appleyard in 2000 in Vancouver.

Karin currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia with her husband Lou and their black lab "WORF" who inspired one of Karin's originals "Dog For A Day".
