As the leader of the band, Spike brings both a family background in music and years of playing experience to the group. His interests in many different genres help inform his own writing and playing styles. Always involved in music, he has played saxophone and piano in several UNT lab bands, sung with Jazz Singers I and the Zebras (performing the music of Stevie Wonder), and leading his own groups such as Rockwell, The Broken Cactus Blues Band, and The Spike Band as well as write hundreds of songs.
