New York's progressive Soul Movement has been gracefully taken to a next level by a young singer/songwriter sensation whose soulful vibrations demand a dance with your mind, body, spirit, and soul. Inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Nina Simone, and Sade Adu, her angelic voice and hypnotizing grooves are wrapped up in the simple yet sweet sound of her name...SOMI.

"Singing has been a journey of healing," says 26-year old SOMI, and while she celebrates the innate Jazz feel in her music, that is the reason she refers to it as Holistic Soul. "I want my music to put people in a place of calm and serenity. The same place where I am when I write. I want people to be touched by music, the same way I continue to be." Thus, SOMI's debut album ETERNAL MOTIVE relentlessly evokes all that is pure, honest, and true. While the young chanteuse shares stories of her soul, the listener is involuntarily reminded of their own private moments of passion, intimacy, and love. Songs like "Memories of September", inspired by SOMI's experience living in New York City in September 2001, clearly illustrate the depth of her lyrical conscience; while her sensuous grooves of love and delectable incantations brew up an irresistible and insightful recipe for matters of the heart.

Throughout the album her voice soars over, through, and in between the nuances of an incomparable musicianship that fuses jazz, classic soul, african folk, and rare urban grooves. Co-produced by phenomenal jazz/soul guitarist David "Sampsonic" Sampson, who toured with the late Charles Earland and with British soul sensation Julie Dexter, the album & the live show feature some of today's most renowned players.

Including world-class bassist and Blue Note Records recording artist Lonnie Plaxico, the long-time musical director for Cassandra Wilson. Pianist Chris Robinson, who recently shared the stage with Stevie Wonder and Roberta Flack, mans the keys for SOMI. With a full-bodied combination of vocal and instrumental prowess and power, ETERNAL MOTIVE is a provocative and inspiring work that no collection should be without. SOMI continues to perform live throughout the New York City area and abroad. She thanks you for your support.
