Scott Laird, a native of Indiana, PA, combines unique blend of jazz, folk and popular music that revolves around his work on the electric violin. His latest solo release Simple Gifts and his 1998 release, Free Way, effectively capture his love for the sound of the electric violin, memorable melodies, and his passion for life. He has recorded on the Roadrunner and REX record labels and his work with the band "Believer" was nominated for a Dove Award in 1994. He is endorsed by D'Addario Strings, Zeta Violins and Coda Bows.

He received his B.S. in Music Education (1986) and his M.A. in Violin Performance (1990) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is currently on the faculty of The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics where he directs the orchestra, chorale, guitar, and recording technology programs. He has been an active string educator and conductor for over 15 years and his orchestras have been recognized at the local, regional, and national level for their superior and musically mature performances. He makes frequent appearances as a performer, clinician and guest conductor throughout the United States. He also is owner of Trauma South Recording Studios in Durham, NC.
