Robert DeBellis has been a freelance woodwind performer in New York City since 1982. As a jazz artist, he has recorded and performed internationally with artists such as Don Byron, Muhal Richard Abrams, Mongo Santamaria, Uri Caine, The New York Composers Orchestra, Phillip Johnston, Kevin Norton, James Emery and Brad Jones's Aka Alias. During the last several years he has devoted much of his time to composing and playing in his own group, and has recently completed this first solo CD, Parallax, on Vintone Records. The all-star lineup on this CD is Mark Soskin-Piano, David Gilmore-Guitar, Brad Jones-Bass, Robbie Ameen-Drums, and Kevin Norton-Drums, Vibes, Percussion.

Mr. DeBellis's fluency on all saxophones, flutes, and clarinets keeps him active in the new music scene, commercial recording, and on Broadway. He has performed with a wide spectrum of artists ranging from John Adams to The Four Tops. His woodwinds can be heard on Nickelodeon's classic television cartoon Rocko's Modern Life. He has also played in many Broadway pit orchestras, most recently The Lion King, Kiss Me Kate, Thou Shalt Not, and Sweet Smell Of Success. Mr. DeBellis directs ensembles and teaches woodwinds at The Dwight Englewood School, Englewood, NJ.
