J.D. and the Sons of Rhythm began as a studio recording project. FAMILY VALUES predates PRIMATE GESTURES and MUSIC FROM ANOTHER PLANET (Also available on cdbaby.com), and brings some of the current players on board for the first time. Beginning with Jammin' at Midtown, spontaneous music was the objective. To achieve this, experienced players were put on unfamiliar ground. They met new players, with hard-drive spinning and no charts to follow. Chops were flexed. Musical discussions in notes took place. The objective was achieved in FAMILY VALUES, 15 tracks of music on 2 discs. ********************* disk 1 Did you Record That? Those sessions were released on the 'Jammin at Midtown' CD. Later we decided to do it again with various musicians. In every session most of the musicians never met let alone played together. There were no rehearsals, second takes or knowledge of any song structure other than the two songs with Julio. These sessions were products of improvisation, a high degree of creativity and technical expertise stirred by a huge degree of listening capacity and respect of each other. On a couple of songs you can hear someone yelling out a chord change, that's how immdeiate those sessions were. It was an honor and a pleasure for my family and I to work with such a great group of people coupled with great creative talents." ************************** JD AND THE SONS OF RHYTHM: cdbaby.com/jdsons - QUANTUM EVENTS cdbaby.com/jatsor - MUSIC FROM ANOTHER PLANET cdbaby.com/jatsor2 - PRIMATE GESTURES cdbaby.com/jatsor3 - FAMILY VALUES THAT DOG IN EGYPT (J.D., Jayson, Rickie) cdbaby.com/doge99 - THAT DOG IN EGYPT '99 cdbaby.com/doge97 - THAT DOG IN EGYPT '97 MAMBO (Rickie, Joel, Ralph) cdbaby.com/mamboband - MAMBO SKUDD (Jayson) cdbaby.com/skudd - SKUDD CAT'S A BEAR: (Frank, Tony) cdbaby.com/catsabear - TITO IN WONDERLAND cdbaby.com/catsabear2 - TITO: IN SEARCH OF A REVOLUTION cdbaby.com/catsabear3 - EYE OF THE PYRAMID ONE WORLD TRIBE: (Frank, Mike Chin) cdbaby.com/oneworldtribe POTATO BATTERY: (Mike Ohm, Sheldon Peterson, David Blaetz) cdbaby.com/potatobattery FRANK SINGER cdbaby.com/franksinger - OFF THE TOP: STANDARDS 1 cdbaby.com/franksinger2 - GENERATIONS STRING QUARTET MIKE OHM cdbaby.com/mikeohm1 - THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM cdbaby.com/mikeohm2 - ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER ****************** www.jdhopkins.com www.catsabear.com www.franksinger.com www.standards-1.com www.oneworldtribe.com www.firstartrecords.com www.midtownrecording.com Check out the artist's website: http://www.jdhopkins.com Track List: 1.
