Dear Person,

Presenting Cannonball, a unique up-and-coming band in the San Francisco Bay Area.

We're six musicians who spent more than 70 years in jazz combined, but are creating a new sound which draws on Cuban music, funk, and especially hip-hop.

A lot of bands are ecclectic, but this is a real fusion, an entirely original sound.

Recordings:
Cannonball's latest CD, Hiphopulation (2001), uses the core rhythm and horn sections together with more than a dozen featured artists: Djs, didjereedoo players, percussionists, rappers, little kids, a fifteen piece big band and an exotic mix by Roger Tschann of Grizzly Studios.

While Cannonball's first CD, Funky Soul Music focused on original arrangements of the music of the Cannonball Adderley Quintet of the late 50s and 60s.

Hiphopulation features eleven originals and moves from funk to rumba to samba to jazz to rock in a seamless 74 minute CD.

Cannonball has performed at dozens of jazz clubs in the Bay Area, and a bunch of sit-down type jazz festivals as well.

But we play dance clubs, too.

We feature intelligent rappers, impeccable scratch technique, and nearly a dozen original tunes on the new CD.

We play Coltrane you can dance to.
