William Eckart is a consummate musician.

Composer, performer and recording artist, his intelligently-crafted and soulfully-rendered piano pieces are the stuff of personal transformation for both artist and audience alike.

William has been composing and playing solo, ensemble and studio keyboards for over thirty years.

His work as a session musician for producers, David Rubinson and Jimmie Haskell, performing with artists such as Taj Mahal, the Pointer Sisters and Al Stewart, is exemplary of his unique blend of classical and jazz sounds.

Much of William's repertoire is of his own composition.

He was the musical creator for the weekly public radio program, the Milky Way Starlight Theater and the PBS series Starwatch.

Earlier in his career, William was the Director of Recording for the music department of California State University, Northridge and a session musician for MCA/Universal and Columbia Records.

William's album, Diamonds, which was produced by Alex de Grassi and recorded at Different Fur Recording in San Francisco, is a mix of ambient New Age and jazz pieces.

He has frequently opened in concert for The John Nilsen Group and appeared solo at venues near his home in the northwest.

William is often requested to serve as a journalist, publishing articles on entertainment news and personal interviews with musical artists such as George Winston and Randy Newman.

A recent series of casual engagements has ushered an expansion on arrangements and interpretations of popular music spanning the greater part of the twentieth century.

This focus on memorable songs has assisted in the emphasis on melody that characterize William's latest creations.

He is currently putting the finishing touches on a new book of original compositions to be recorded this year.
