One of the finest writers on the jazz scene today, Alan Baylock's music has been called, "some of the best contemporary big-band writing ever."* Baylock currently holds the position of Chief Arranger for the renowned "Airmen of Note" jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force Band in Washington D.C. In addition, he is in demand as a freelance composer, arranger, instrumentalist, clinician, and adjudicator, and is the leader of the Alan Baylock Jazz Orchestra.

Artists who perform his music include jazz greats Freddie Hubbard, Maynard Ferguson, Michael Brecker, Jimmy Heath, Frank Wess, James Moody, David Liebman, Randy Brecker, Kenny Werner, Mike Mainieri, Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Berg, Nnenna Freelon, Vanessa Rubin, Kevin Mahogany, Earl Klugh, Kirk Whalum; country music legends Roy Clark and Wynonna; pop stars Chaka Khan and Kenny Rankin; and symphony orchestras throughout the country.

The Alan Baylock Jazz Orchestra's debut recording, "Two Seconds to Midnight," was released in October of 2003 on Seabreeze Records. More of Baylock's music can be found on recordings by the David Liebman Big Band, Maynard Ferguson and Big Bop Nouveau, the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra, the Airmen of Note, and on numerous other professional and collegiate albums, including releases by the University of North Texas One O' Clock Lab Band and the University of Miami Concert Jazz Band. His music is published by Warner Bros., UNC Jazz Press, Walrus Music, and the Tuba Press.
