The Four of Us Mort Weiss, Ron Eschete', Dave Carpenter, Roy McCurdy Mort Weiss' latest album The Four of Us is the natural successor to his much acclaimed trio album titled The Three of Us. The musicians are the same with the addition of legendary drummer, Roy McCurdy adding to the excitement. It was recorded live at the cd release party for the previous trio album, performed at Steamers Jazz Club and Cafe before a very appreciative audience. This album is everything a good jazz album should be: spontaneous improvisation by masterful musicians well schooled in their art. It's exciting, delightful, toe tapping, soulful, passionate, haunting, astounding, glorious and above all it swings! Weiss is at the top of his form, holding his own with three of the greatest: Ron Eschete', guitar, Dave Carpenter, bass, and Roy McCurdy, drums. The timeless standards included are straight from the Great American jazz repertoire with each player accorded an equal role in the creation of this special magic. As George Fendel (KMHD Radio, Portland) sees it: "this is not so much a 'clarinet record', but rather a straight-down-the-middle-of-the-highway bop, ballads and blues album which happens to feature a clarinet." "The clarinetist to watch is Mort Weiss" - Buddy DeFranco "Mort Weiss at 69 is extraordinary" JazzTimes Feb 2005 Check out the artist's website: http://www.smsjazz.com Track List: 1.
