Saxophonist and clarinetist Kyle Coughlin has earned both a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and a Master of Music degree in clarinet performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore.

He leads his own jazz quartet and duo and has performed at every major jazz venue in the Baltimore-Washington area, including Blues Alley, the King of France Tavern, Baltimore-Washington Jazzfest, and the Annapolis Jazz Festival.

His musical journeys have also led him to performances in Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Jacksonville.

In the Baltimore-Washington area Kyle has worked as a free-lance musician with the National Gallery Orchestra, Concert Artists of Baltimore, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, and orchestras at the Kennedy Center, Lyric Opera House, Mechanic Theater, Merriweather Post Pavilion, Arena Stage, and Wolftrap.

His honors include first prize in the Professional Division of the Baltimore Music Club Competition and finalist in the Buffet North American Clarinet Competition.

Kyle is on the faculty at Howard Community College, where he teaches music fundamentals, an online music appreciation course, jazz ensemble, and private lessons.
