He's the multitalented Hip-Hop Guru at FunkCave Records. East coast born, West coast raised William Smith, alias "Phokus," combines skills from both coasts. He differently kicks a new flavor. Following in his father's footsteps in music, Phokus has been making beats on the kitchen table since the age of two. Continuing through grade school, Phokus was a drum major and captain.

Beats are a way of life for Phokus. His head is a continuous library of rhymes. His influences of Dj Sno, Premier, and Above the Law have allowed Phokus to become a raw, untamed lyricist. He produces, writes, Dj's and Raps, always commanding the stage and audiences at a live show.

Growing up, Phokus wasn't the typical inner-city kid, however he has experienced some heartache, stress and struggle in life and he projects that in his music and lyrics. Phokus is what you call a True Hip-Hop Solider.

Phokus has worked with such artists as A lighter Shade of Brown, Coolio, Az Yet and Step by Step. With these collaborations, influences, and working with the band "Hollow Point," Phokus is now setting his mark on the world of Hip-Hop music.
