STATIK BIO The group “Statik†is comprised of two University of Akron Students who have generated a buzz in the Akron, Ohio urban community. Andre Williams is a second year marketing student and Courtney Penny is an incoming freshman. Both Andre and Courtney are holding down summer jobs as they prepare for the fall semester and look forward to the coming school year. Music is important in their lives, but both consider education to be indispensable in whatever career they ultimately choose in life. Andre was born and raised in the greater Akron area. Courtney was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and lived for a while in Cleveland, Ohio. As with most teenagers, Courtney and Andre were influence by hip-hop, although both have since broadened their musical taste to include an expanding range of musical styles. Andre and Courtney’s debut CD “This Is Us†is reflective of the life of the young, urban male at the point of impending adulthood and all the things that go into that. Relationships, family, future, emotion, money and fear are all reflected in the songs on their CD. Both Courtney and Andre have experience their share of pain, desire, heartache and danger in their young lives, but both remain positive and excited about the future. Both Andre and Courtney place their education and the opportunities that an education can bring, as the motivating force in their lives. Combining a love of music with the possibility of generating revenue to help pay for their college tuition, has made their hard work an enjoyable learning experience that they hope will result in a pleasurable moment for those who hear their music.
