My name is Delvyn La'trell Crawford, and I was born June 12, 1978 in Chicago, Illinois. I come from a family of one brother and sister, in which both are older than me.

In June 1981, my parents moved our family to Grand Rapids, MI due to the significant increase of theft, kidnapping, sexual assaults and homicides in the city of Chicago. While living in Chicago, there were numerous of things that occurred to influence my parents decision to relocate. My mother, sister, and I was held hostage in a elevator for 25 minutes. My dad and his brother was assaulted with a 12 gauge rifle at a local corner store. Lastly, on Halloween, a elderly man pulled out a black millimeter hand gun on my sister and I, uttering, " you kids will receive the trick instead of the treat." All of these incidents, that didn't result to a tragedy or injuries, gave my parents the incentive to leave the entire state.

During high school, I always had the desire to rap. Just like playing football or basketball, rapping was a hobby by many of my peers and fellow classmates. My friends and I would often get together before class and try to collaborate large words that rhyme with each other and find a way for them to make sense within a sentence or phrase. Though I wasn't good at this, I always found amusement in hearing others who displayed such creativity.

After graduation, my sister gave me a party, in which other graduates attended. Their was dancing, eating, socializing, and entertainment (Monopoly) available for those who came. The graduation party was encouraging and motivating, because it gave you a sense of accomplishment for completing four years of high school. That night, however, I attended another party, in which I was disappointed and weak hearted. At the party, kids from the ages of 6 to 14 were humping and rubbing on other kids. As the kids would dance, exploit, and even recite the harsh lyrics of the music, grown ups would encourage the kids to shake their butts and poke out their chest. This incident saddened me and at this point in my life, I started to analyze what was happening to our future.

From analyzing what occurred that night, I felt compassion and despair within my heart. In order for me not to lean on my own understanding, I turned to the bible for help. I started reading the bible on a regular basis, and prayed night and day. The mentality and conscious of others got me concern about the well being of the future. Before long, I started to write my innermost feelings that I had within my heart, concerning the ways of the world today. As I read the bible on a consistent basis, God filled me with wisdom on how he wanted his creation to live. From understanding his knowledge and wisdom, I started to put my thoughts into lyrics. Within a week, I had a total of 3 songs. This was surprising, due to the fact that I couldn't write five lines in a verse at high school.

Every since I've read the word, God has opened up my heart and poured out his knowledge to me. My mission is to reach out to young kids and adults in a influential, positive way. I want to delay, if not eliminate their mentality of what their accustom to hearing everyday. Through God, all things are possible, and I plan to use the concerns of my heart to touch others.
