Most people would agree that family and business do not mix, but in this case Barma Shane” Staten and Cousin Maurice “G-Frank$” Williams, working with family has paid off. KenFolks is based out of East St. Louis, Illinois. Their music is a mix of raw gangster rap and with Midwest hustler slang. It is very gritty, grimy, and totally in your face. With songs like the East St. Louis Anthem, Pull a Burner, and Ol’ School, KenFolks has announced their arrival as in the music industry. While creating a buzz throughout the Midwest region, KenFolks has performed as opening acts for Lil John & the Eastside Boyz, Lil Flip, Mystical, Mr. Cheeks, and Cee-Lo Green. These shows were held at major venues throughout the Midwest. To add, Ken Folks have been featured on Chicago’s Power 92 FM, and St. Louis’ 100.3 The Beat. Currently, they are completing their much anticipated release “Bound by Blood”, which is expected to hit summer 2006. KenFolks present influences consist of Young Jeezy, Jay Z, Tupac, Biggie and Outkast,8 Ball &MJG, these influences are evident when you listen to there music. “We’re just glad to be here, and we’ll continue to serve that heat to niggas in the hood!!!!!!!!!!!
