PAST

After several years and countless attempts of being recognized by a major record label, Jay-Villains, with the assistance of Co-Founder/President Danny Spidell, took the liberty of starting an independent record label. First came the name; STARVIN RECORDS!!! A name that defines the severe hunger and sacrifices made by the artists with hopes and dreams of being heard by the masses. Next came the product; Jay-Villains. An underground Buffalo based hip-hop group with talent, skill, and dedication leaking from the heart, whose album was the first to be released from the label. With no promotion, no radio or airplay, the album sold several thousand copies out of the trunk of cars in Buffalo, NY alone. However, along with the peaks, came the valleys. Being products of the inner-city streets of Buffalo where drugs and violence play its part, the label suffered a major loss. On December 12, 2000, the label lost its President to street violence. The situation made it hard for the label to move forward, but we know he wouldn't want us to stop!

PRESENT

Dedicated to making this a firm business with a solid foundation, the necessary actions were taken. Acquiring a diligent staff that has the dream and vision of the Starvin Records company has been one of our main actions amongst this process. From the production to the artist, our product is competitive with acts signed by major record labels. Without the budgets, distribution and big name producers of major labels, we bring to you Starvin Records. Though we sell our records the old-fashioned way, out of the trunk of cars, mail orders, or working consignment deals with Mom & Pop record shops, we're committed to maintaining a close relationship with the fans & public.
