Raised in Columbus, Ohio, Steve “Skeptik†Curl was a problem child who used poetry as an escape from the troubles of everyday life. With the influence of many East Coast artists guiding him, Skeptik turned his poetry into rapping. “At the time when I first started spitting, it was when DMX, Nas, The Lox and Hov were on top, so they had a big influence on who I am today.†Mixing east coast style with a Midwest swag, Skeptik developed his own captivating flow. After honing his skills his name has become more than a moniker, but an accurate representation of his outlook on the industry: “I don’t think anybody is on my level but the greats. If I don’t think you one of the greats, you need to step ya’ game up.†Spending hours in the studio writing, mixing and producing, Skeptik is a renaissance man of rap. With appearances on DJ Kurupt’s The Streets Iz Talkin, DJ Steph Floss’ I’m a Hustler and a host of other mixtapes, he has gained a reputation as the next heir to the hip-hop throne.
