There's nothing more difficult than trying to describe something that simply cannot be described. The words you're about to read are nothing more than simple symbols put together in a vain attempt to express what it's like to experience The Written Prisms. To say: "Written Prisms are a jazz/instrumental hip-hop musical group consisting of six members that are influenced by the likes of Santana, Miles Davis, The Roots, and De La Soul" would perhaps be the understatement of the year. Though my previous example statement is in fact true, it's also no where near accurately articulating what these six men are capable of doing. To understand just what it is they do, I suggest you see them in their natural and original element - the live performance. Every time they take the stage it's as if they're mounting up to defend the music they love to create so much. They flow effortlessly through each song by both moving and touching the audience's body and mind respectively. The lyrics both MCs carefully project have the power to inspire philosophical thought and change while keeping even the shortest attention span stimulated. The sounds that the instrumentalists of the group create are epic enough to border on the imigatic, which is to say that when you listen intently enough you become capable of seeing things you've perhaps never considered before. The Written Prisms (also affectionately known as WPs and The Written P's Crew) have received praise from a nearly impossible to please critic from the Baltimore based Music Monthly magazine. They've played with The Roots, Derek Trucks, The Pharcyde, Rahzel, Jepetto, Kelly Bell Band and Jimmie's Chicken Shack. They've played the 10th Annual Field Day at Salisbury University, the Annapolis Music Festival, Eastport-A-Rockin' Street Festival and recorded for 96 Rock in Ocean City. Absolutely none of these accomplishments matter. The only thing that matters is the music that they've created and the opportunity they need to share their message with the rest of the world. They only need your interest for one moment - the present - and they'll fill that moment with some of the most meaningful music you quite possibly will ever be made a part of. You wouldn't be here if you didn't have a slight inclination that what's being presented to you in our country's mainstream media is polluted and impure. The Hip-Hop you need to exist is right here and waiting to be recognized as positive, as art and as truth. All you've got to do is be willing to be brave and open enough to embrace it. Six men. One message. One voice. One sound. One image. One heart. One mind. Check out the artist's website: http://writtenprisms.com Track List: 1. Situation Critical 2. ReDirect 3. S.L.O.P. 4.
